A MAN who was charged following the death of an 80-year-old man in Castlemaine has pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting suicide.

Glenn Stratton, 53, appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Wednesday where he formally entered the guilty plea.
He will face the Supreme Court later this month for a directions hearing.

Stratton was originally facing one charge of murder following the 80-year-old man's death on May 24.
The prosecution withdrew the murder charge on Wednesday.
Magistrate Russell Kelly extended Stratton's bail ahead of his Supreme Court hearing.
Under the conditions, Stratton must not leave the state of Victoria.
