INGLEWOOD'S best and fairest results have reaffirmed just how young the Blues' senior side was that took to the field in the Loddon Valley league this year.
The best and fairest leaderboard for the Graham 'Squirty' Roberts Medal featured four players from Inglewood's under-18 team in 2019 among the top seven vote-getters - Tom Alexander (2nd), Jasper McClelland (3rd), Taj Rodwell (4th) and Matthew Rowe (7th).
"We think there's a real silver lining there with those young players out of the under-18s in 2019 featuring prominently in the best and fairest and they are only going to keep improving," Inglewood coach Darrell Billett said at the weekend.
"And there's also Cameron Martin and Kyle Simpson out of the 2019 under-18s as well who held down key roles for the majority of the season and they will be better players for their experience this year.
"So they are the positives we can take out of what was obviously a tough season.
"Pleasingly is that everyone who we really want to commit for next year has done so. It's a positive that no-one who I've earmarked as someone who could help take us forward has indicated they want to leave."
The Blues endured a winless 2021 season, finishing on the bottom of the ladder with a 0-12 record and percentage of just 13.5.
Defender Cody Stobaus was a runaway winner of the Blues' senior best and fairest, polling 86 votes, with Alexander second on 41 and McClelland third on 34.
"Cody moved up forward late in the season and showed just what a quality player he is and that he has a lot of strings to his bow," Billett said.
