Castlemaine's DON KR factory has confirmed four of its workers have tested positive for COVID-19 and other 30 are in isolation.
The company says its premises were not the site of any of the virus transmissions and that plans to temporarily close some operations over the weekend are part of previously planned maintenance.
It comes more than a year after DON KR Castlemaine and a host of other Victorian meatworks grappled with outbreaks and brought in tighter COVID-19 controls.

Health authorities have listed new tier one COVID-19 exposure sites in Melbourne and regional Victoria overnight.
The RMIT Hangar, Bendigo Airport has been identified as a tier one site between 8:50am and 4:30pm on Monday, October 4.
Anyone who has visited a tier 1 exposure site must get tested and isolate for 14 days.
Bendigo's Dan Murphy's was closed for a deep clean yesterday after it was identified as a tier two site.
The person with COVID-19 was inside the store between 5.15pm and 5.20pm on Wednesday, October 6.
Lansell Square (267 High Street, Kangaroo Flat) is also tier two site between 7:45am - 4:31pm on Sunday, October 3.
Anyone who has visited this location during these times should urgently get tested, then isolate until confirmation of a negative result. Continue to monitor for symptoms, get tested again if symptoms appear.
