Over 30,000 Victorians received a vaccine dose yesterday and another 67,789 people were tested.
There are 12,711 active cases across the state.
Across the entire weekend, central Victoria was rocked by a slew of new COVID-19 cases and exposure sites.
Contact tracers confirmed one new case in Greater Bendigo with another seven in the Macedon Ranges and one in Campaspe.
They also found two more cases in the Mount Alexander Shire.
Overall, 42 people currently have COVID-19 in central Victoria, three quarters of whom are in the Macedon Ranges Shire.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health has added a host of tier two exposure sites the region.
All were are Castlemaine and centre on potential exposures between Monday and Wednesday.
The new exposure sites and cases have been listed at a tricky point for health authorities.
The government is no longer aiming for zero cases but are prepared to lock down regional areas if it thinks outbreaks are getting out of hand.
They did exactly that over the weekend after a spike of new cases in Shepparton.
Statewide, daily case numbers reached a record 1488, it was revealed on Saturday.
Daily case numbers dropped to 1220 in figures released on Sunday but premier Daniel Andrews warned that Victoria was not past the peak of infections.
He implored people to keep following social distancing rules.
"We are so, so close. We can see to the other side of this now," Mr Andrews said.
Victoria expects to lift lockdowns on or about October 26 when it reaches 80 per cent double dose vaccinations.
"But what will be freedom for the rest of us ... will be the hardest and most challenging time for our health system," Mr Andrews said.
Healthcare workers are preparing for a surge in hospitalisations once lockdowns lift.
