The 32-year-old man charged with injuring the woman appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Friday. He pleaded guilty to the assault.

The court heard on March 20 this year, a family violence intervention order was issued with the man's partner listed as the protected person.

Under the order, the man was not allowed to commit family violence.

On the evening of August 6, the man was at home with the woman when he began complaining about work.

The court heard the man threatened to shoot a co-worker and an argument broke out between the pair.

The man then picked up a full carton of iced coffee and threw it at the woman's face. The carton connected with the woman's lip, causing it to bleed.

The man then grabbed a Glen 20 can and again threw it at the woman's face, resulting in more bleeding.

The woman's eldest son, who is not related to the offender, told the man to stop. The 32-year-old spat in the boy's face.

The boy called 000 and the man left the property. The woman's two sons witnessed the assault.

Police arrived at the property and spoke to the woman who was hysterically crying. Paramedics took the woman to Bendigo hospital for treatment.

Police arrested the man the next day. He told police he threw a lighter and roll of tape at his partner.

Defence lawyer Ellie Hayes-Childs told the court the man was remorseful for his actions and realised a pattern of behaviour was emerging.

Ms Hayes-Childs said the man had already served 55 days of pre-sentence detention so time served with a community corrections order was within range.

Magistrate Russell Kelly said he would have the man assessed for a corrections order.

The case was adjourned to later this month and the man was remanded in custody.
