Authorities are yet to decide whether the site would be listed tier one, tier two or something else.
The exposure may have happened at the Cornish Street site on Monday and it is not yet clear if the person was infectious during their time there.
It is also understood that a small number of staff came into contact with them and have been deemed close contacts.
Castlemaine Health has called a "code yellow". The code relates to internal or infrastructure emergencies.
At this stage, no patients or residents of the service have been deemed close contacts, the Advertiser understands.
A host of tier one and tier two sites were listed in Bendigo yesterday but the Department of Health was yet to add any more from central Victoria on Thursday morning.
The news that Castlemaine Health staff have been deemed close contacts comes as the state records more than 1400 new cases in one day - a record for Victoria during the pandemic.
More to come.
