After Bec Allen and Maddi Rocci made last-minute withdrawals, both Wehrung and fellow Victorian Jade Melbourne were named on the squad.

It might be Wehrung's first time playing as an Opal, however, as a junior she represented the country internationally.

Wehrung was initially announced as a reserve player for the squad earlier this month.

Opals head coach Paul Gorris believes Wehrung and Melbourne will fit perfectly within the Opals set up, with the team ready for their first game on Tuesday morning at 2:00AM AEST against Chinese Taipei.

"Abbey has always been a very consistent WNBL player and can play both ends of the floor. She is a good on ball defender and can shoot the 3, so her versatility shows at both ends of the court," he said.

"Jade is an exciting up and coming talent and her All Star 5 selection at the recent FIBA U19 Women's World Cup proved she is destined for great things in the future and this opportunity gives her a taste of senior women's international basketball.

"Having coached both of these players it will be an easy transition for them both into the Opals team and I'm looking forward to getting started in Jordan."

Australia is in Group B which includes Chinese Taipei, China and the Philippines.

After game one against Taipei, they will play the Philippines on Wednesday followed by a match with China later the same day.
