The 61-year-old woman appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court this week for a sentence indication hearing after she was charged with the assault.

The court heard on the morning of February 2, the victim was sitting at her desk at the Bendigo business when she saw the accused walk past her.

The woman, who appeared agitated, moved to the front of the office and wiped something off a whiteboard before returning to her desk.

The woman then allegedly picked up a metal frame and threw it at the victim's face. The victim sustained a small cut under her eye.

The accused allegedly yelled at the victim before leaving the office. A number of colleagues witnessed the alleged incident although none of them have made statements to police.

The 61-year-old presented herself to the Bendigo Police Station on February 12 and denied the physical assault. She did admit to yelling and swearing at the victim.

Defence lawyer Myra Bigger told the court the woman believed the victim had provided drugs to her son.

Ms Bigger said the woman was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar 25 years ago, but she had sought additional support for her mental health in July.

The defence counsel said the woman lost her job as a result of the alleged incident and there was a final intervention order in place to protect the victim.

Ms Bigger submitted that a good behaviour bond was within range for a sentence.

But Magistrate Sharon McRae said she was not sure a bond was appropriate given the seriousness of the charge.

Ms McRae said if the woman pleaded guilty, she would sentence her to a therapeutic community corrections order.

The case was adjourned to later this month so the woman could assess the sentence indication. Her bail was extended to the next court date.
