More than 54.6 per cent of the region's eligible residents are fully vaccinated, compared to 54.2 per cent of residents in Geelong.
Almost 81 per cent of Bendigo residents have had at least one jab, compared to 82 per cent of Geelong residents, 83.2 per cent of those in Warrnambool and 76.7 per cent of Ballarat residents.
"But central Victorians are responding so well, getting vaccinated as quickly and taking up appointments to get vaccinated when they are available," he said.

Bendigo Health expects to have 90 per cent of the city's population aged over 16 to have had their first COVID-19 vaccination in their arm by the end of September.
Mr Cameron last week said said bookings over the next few weeks showed the rate should top 90 per cent by the end of the month.

"Working on the logic everyone is coming back, six weeks later we will have 90 per cent (of over 16s) doubled vaccinated - around the middle of November."
Mr Cameron said hitting the milestone would be important in helping protect the health system from being overrun.
