It's that drive that has landed her a Murray City Country Coast GP Training 2021 Registrar Extension award for her dedication to women's, men's and sexual health in Bendigo.
Born and bred in Malaysia, Dr Lim had seen a family member struggling with their own health, unearthing her need to do her part.
"I remember saying to my parents, 'I need to help people'," she said.
"The doctor that looked after my grandpa was very thorough and careful all up until he passed away, so it really inspired me to be someone like that.
"I told them I wanted to be a doctor and I was lucky to have a family that was there to support me and my dreams."
After completing her high school education, Dr Lim saved and moved to Melbourne, where she began her studies at Monash University.
It was there she learnt about the shortage of sexual health resources in regional Victoria.
"I realised that it's a field that hasn't been explored very well or there are patients out there that don't understand their condition and at times have been mismanaged," she said.
"I've heard it from friends and the community that we need that service and I can see that there is very high demand for these types of services in this region."
From there, Dr Lim began her journey to specialising in sexual, reproductive and women's health.
"I always thought I was going to be a gynecologist," she said.
"But while I was in medical school, I realised I enjoyed a lot more than that.
"I enjoyed emergency, I enjoyed seeing people of all ages and so that's why I decided to begin my further study in these areas."
Nowadays, Dr Lim works between two clinics, Bendigo Community Health Service's Women's Sexual and Reproductive Health Hub and Strathfieldsaye Primary Health.
"I have been very privileged to work in this clinic alongside an amazing team of nurses and staff to provide sexual and reproductive health care to our community," she said.
"I cover everything from sexually transmitted disease management to reproductive health in men and women."
It was this work that lead to the nomination of her award, something she was very proud to receive.
"It was so heartwarming to get this news," Dr Lim said.
"I really enjoy what I do and you never do it for this type of recognition, but it is lovely all the same.
"The values that we have as doctors really coincides with my own and I really like to care and help people feel better."
