ONE of Wycheproof-Narraport's most decorated players will coach the Demons in 2022, with Boe Bish taking on the role for a second time.
He takes over the coaching reins from Mick Delaney, with the Demons coming off the wooden-spoon following the COVID-impacted North Central league season.
Bish had a previous coaching stint at the Demons in a joint role with Ricky Allan.
Bish has a stacked CV with the Demons that includes three premierships (including two as captain); two Des Darcy medals for best-on-ground in the grand final, while he is a five-time winner of the club's Geoff Fawcett Medal as best and fairest.
He also came in at No.1 in the Addy's list of top-ranked NCFL players between 2012 and 2019 that was compiled last year and has produced another consistent season that has the reliable defender well in contention for a sixth Demons' best and fairest.
"Grub is a champion of the club who has done it all," Wycheproof-Narraport secretary Rory White said at the weekend.
"He's a very likeable character both at our club and all around the league and it's great that he's jumped on board as coach.
"A lot of the older people, in particular, around the club are really excited to have Grub as coach because they know what they are going to get from him."
The Demons ended the 2021 season with just one victory - a nine-point win over Charlton in the opening round - while they forfeited their last two games with it deemed not viable by the club to play without crowds.
Wycheproof-Narraport will continue into 2022 as a stand-alone club after a proposed merger with fellow NCFL club Charlton earlier this year didn't receive the required support.
Meanwhile, with the season having been called off earlier this month without a finals series being played, the North Central board has confirmed it will recognise the teams that finished on top of the ladder as the minor premiers.
NCFL minor premiers:
Seniors - Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers.
Reserves - St Arnaud.
Under-16s - Boort.
Under-13s - Donald.
