SAM Kerridge has strongly backed new coach Jack Fallon to get the best out of the White Hills playing list in the Heathcote District league next year.
Fallon was last month announced as the new coach of the Demons, taking the reins from star midfielder Kerridge, who had been at the helm for the past three seasons.
"Jack was superb as an assistant coach this year and he's got the chance to step up into the senior role," Kerridge said.
"He will bring great energy and has played at a decent level having spent some time with Essendon in the VFL, in Darwin and won a best and fairest with Eaglehawk in a premiership year. He's a young fella who loves his footy and the energy he will bring will be second-to-none and I'm sure the boys will really thrive off that."
Although he has been at the club for three years, Kerridge had only been able to coach the Demons in two seasons due to the cancelled 2020 caused by COVID.
Kerridge - who as well as stepping down as coach is also moving on from the Demons as a player - had a 16-12 record in the 28 games he coached.
"Being down here in Melbourne and the workload I've got can be quite time-consuming with long hours, and not being able to get to training consistently was another factor," Kerridge said of his decision to finish up at the Demons.
"I'm confident the footy club is headed in the right direction and will really thrive in having someone who can be there as coach every training night and Saturday."
As well as Kerridge finishing with the Demons, so too has their other former AFL player, gun forward Jed Lamb, who kicked 113 goals in his two seasons with the club.
White Hills is one of four HDFNL clubs that will have a new coach next year, along with Heathcote (yet to be announced), Leitchville-Gunbower (Tim Bannan) and North Bendigo (yet to be announced), while Dylan Gordon is stepping up to co-coach Elmore with Dylan Friedberger.
