IN A SHORTENED and severely disrupted season, Lachlan Sharp's 68 goals for Strathfieldsaye were the most kicked by any player across the Bendigo, Heathcote District, Loddon Valley and North Central leagues in 2021.
A glance across the four competitions show Storm captain Sharp was one of only six players to kick at least 50 goals through the stop-start 2021 season that came to a frustrating and bitterly disappointing end earlier this month without any finals being played.
Sharp's 68 goals came from 12 games - an average of 5.6, which in a normal 18-round home and away season in the Bendigo Football-Netball League equates to 102 goals.
Sharp's tally of 68 goals included two double-figure bags - 12 against both Kangaroo Flat and Castlemaine - with the Storm stalwart now having kicked a career 750 goals for the club.
Second on the region's goalkicking table was South Bendigo's crafty forward Kaiden Antonowicz with 63 - 35 of which came in his last four games: 8 against Kangaroo Flat; 10 against Kyneton; 6 against Castlemaine; and 11 against Maryborough.
White Hills' Jed Lamb (58), Bridgewater's Josh Martyn (56), Gisborne captain Pat McKenna (53) and Pyramid Hill's Braidy Dickens (50) were the other four players to kick 50-plus goals this year.
Across the four competitions there was a spread of 840 players who kicked goals, while in total, 4963 goals were slotted - Bendigo (1522); Heathcote District (1350); Loddon Valley (1288); and North Central (803).
The most kicked in a game for the year was Martyn's 15 for Bridgewater against Inglewood on July 3.
