The Demons are utilising their brand new nets in preparation for what they hope is next month's start to the Bendigo District Cricket Association season.
The six-lane facility is a vast improvement on the Demons' former set of three nets.
"It's something that the club has been working towards for longer than I've been at the club,'' captain-coach Mitch Winter-Irving, who has been with the Demons seven years, said.
"It's taken a lot of time and effort and we're certainly going to reap the benefits.
"We've trained three times in the past week and it's hard to describe how much better it is.
"To be able to put more work in, hit more balls and it takes a shorter amount of time - the players are loving it.
"This is a proper cricket facility. There's no danger whereas the previous nets there was that question about safety at times."
White Hills president Rob Lowes said the nets were a vital asset for the club.
"There was a lot of work put into this by previous committees and the current committee and playing group can benefit from the new nets,'' Lowes said.
"The club worked hard to raise the money it needed for its contribution and the nets wouldn't be here without the support of the City of Greater Bendigo, the state government and Cricket Victoria.
"Thanks to those groups we have an A-class training facility. It's hugely important for the club's future to have a quality, safe environment for all grades to train in."
The new nets are even more vital considering the club is expanding this summer.
For the first time the Demons are fielding a team in the BDCA's popular women's competition.
In a coup for White Hills, former Victorian junior representative Letesha Bawden is returning to her home club.
The star all-rounder has played Premier Cricket in Melbourne with Plenty Valley.
"The entire club is very excited about the new women's team,'' Lowes said.
"Letesha is a quality player and person and we're very happy to have her back at the club.
"We've had a really good response from prospective players, but we still have room for anyone who would like to join the club.
"It's not just open-age women who can play in this competition. If there's any teenagers out there who'd like to play cricket we'd love to see you at White Hills.
"Women's cricket is booming in Australia and we're very keen to provide a pathway for girls to follow from junior cricket through to open-age cricket."
Anyone who is interested in playing junior, senior or women's cricket for the Demons can contact Lowes on 0439 063 348.
The BDCA senior season is scheduled to start on October 2, pending COVID-19 restrictions. No date has been set as yet for the junior and women's competitions.
