Jaycob Robertson, 22, appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court this week after he was charged with 10 offences, including assaulting an emergency services worker while on duty.
The court heard on the evening of July 27, a vehicle was broken into in Golden Square. A black Nike bag with gym equipment and personal items was allegedly stolen from the car.

The next morning, two protective service officers were patrolling the Bendigo Railway Station when they saw Mr Robertson smoking a cigarette in a prohibited area.
The officers approached Mr Robertson and told him he needed to move away, which he did.
The court heard Mr Robertson returned to the two officers a few minutes later and had a conversation with them.
After one of the officers asked for his name and address, Mr Robertson allegedly acted nervous and picked up a black Nike bag to search for his identification.
He eventually provided his details, which showed he was wanted for questioning in relation to an outstanding matter.
The protective services officer told Mr Robertson he was going to be arrested and the 22-year-old allegedly tried to flee.
The court heard a scuffle broke out and Mr Robertson allegedly told an officer to "f*** off, you dog" before trying to punch them in the head.
Mr Robertson allegedly broke free from one of the officers, but the second officer tried to grab him.
That officer fell to the ground and police alleged Mr Robertson stomped on the officer's face.

Mr Robertson was eventually restrained and arrested. The alleged assault was captured on CCTV footage and body-worn cameras.
Two Bendigo police officers arrived on scene and searched Mr Robertson. They allegedly found a flick knife and the stolen Nike bag in his possession.
Mr Robertson was taken to the Bendigo Police Station but he refused to be interviewed. He was allegedly captured on CCTV trying to conceal a small amount of methamphetamine in his underwear.
The court heard the protective services officer sustained a mild traumatic brain injury along with cuts and bruises to their face.
Defence lawyer Deniz Yildirim told the court Mr Robertson should be released on bail because he had a stable address with family in Morwell, more than 300km away from Bendigo.
Mr Yildirim said Mr Robertson had no reason to return to Bendigo if he was bailed.
The defence lawyer said Mr Robertson had also been accepted into the Court Integrated Services Program.
Magistrate Michael Coghlan said the prosecution's case was strong and the photos of the officer's injuries were "particularly frightening".
But Mr Coghlan said he accepted Mr Robertson had family support in Morwell, along with the benefit of CISP.
The magistrate granted Mr Robertson bail, on the conditions that he lives in Morwell, follows CISP, and abides by a 9pm to 6am curfew.
Mr Robertson is due to return to the Bendigo Magistrates' Court in November.
