Maroons' assistant coach Whittle won the Harding Medal in his first season in the league, while Hicks added further weight to her status as one of the greatest players in LVFNL history by winning the league's most prestigious individual netball award the Helen Ward Medal for the fourth time.

The compromised nature of the shortened season saw the LVFNL decide the season awards on a ratio basis.

Votes earned by each player were divided by the number of games their team played.

Whittle polled 15 votes in Newbridge's 11 games for a ratio of 1.36. That was good enough to edge out Bears-Lagoon Serpentine big man Nathan Twigg, who polled 13 votes in 11 games for a ratio of 1.18.

Mitiamo veteran Lucas Matthews polled 14 votes - one more than Twigg - but the Superoos played one more match than the Bears.

Matthews' 14 votes from 12 Mitiamo matches gave him a ratio of 1.17 - just 0.01 behind Twigg.

Bridgewater's Alex Powell, who was ineligible because of suspension, and Marong's Corey Gregg were next best with 13 votes each and a ratio of 1.08.

Newbridge only won two games in 2021, but it didn't stop the consistent Whittle polling 15 votes. The classy midfielder/forward was judged best on ground three times - in the Maroons' wins over Inglewood and Calivil United and in the round nine loss to Marong.

The Panthers won that match by 154 points, but the umpires decided Whittle was the most influential player on the ground.

Marong key forward Brandyn Grenfell kicked 12 goals that game and earned the two votes.

Whittle is a proven vote getter, having finished runner-up in the 2016 Cheatley Medal in the HDFNL.

Like Whittle, Twigg's consistency was rewarded with votes in seven matches. Matthews was judged best on ground four times in his 14-vote haul.

Whittle is the first Newbridge player to win the Harding Medal since Steve Cox in 2003.

Hicks continued her dominance of the LVFNL with another brilliant season for the Superoos.

The goal attack polled in nine of her side's 11 matches for a total of 20 votes and a ratio of 1.82. Hicks picked up full votes in five matches, including three times in the final four rounds to storm clear of her rivals.

Aside from four league medals, Hicks also has two premierships to her name and was best on court in the 2019 grand final victory.

MGYCW goal shooter Tia Webb had a brilliant season for the Eagles and was runner-up with 16 votes and a ratio of 1.60.

Bridgewater's Claudia Collins made a lightning start to the season and looked capable of winning the medal when she had 10 votes before the halfway mark.

Collins picked up three more votes to finish third with 13 votes and a ratio of 1.18. Pyramid Hill's Abbey Dingwall rounded out the top four with 10 votes and a ratio of 1.0.

MGYCW clubmates Tom Harrington and Cody Riddick celebrated victories in the lower grade football awards.

Harrington picked up three votes in the final match of the season to win a thrilling reserves count.

Harrington polled nine votes and a ratio of 0.82 to edge out Bridgewater's Tyler Estrada, Marong's Lachlan Frankel and Pyramid Hill's Nathan Moon, who all finished with eight votes and a ratio of 0.67.

Inglewood's Jack Smith, Marong's Zac Webb and Pyramid Hill's Mitch Dingwall were next best with seven votes and a ratio of 0.58.

Riddick dominated the under-18 count. The young Eagle picked up five best on grounds in his 21 vote haul and ratio of 1.50.

Marong's Tom Wilson was runner-up with 16 votes and a ratio of 1.23. MGYCW's Oscar Keogh was third with 15 votes and 1.07.

Bridgewater's Darcy Wood and MGYCW's Cooper Hale rounded out the top five with 12 votes and 0.86.

The B-grade netball was the tightest vote count of the night, with eight players finishing within three votes of victory.

Newbridge's Jasmine Daly and Bridgewater's Kym Childs both polled 13 votes, but Daly was crowned the winner on ratio.

Newbridge played one less game than Bridgewater, so Daly's ratio was 1.18 - just 0.10 ahead of Childs.

Childs' ratio of 1.08 denied her a third win in the B-grade award.

Marong duo Darcie Fry and Tania Kerrison polled 12 votes each and ratios of 1.0.

They were joined on a ratio of 1.0 by MGYCW's Emily Johnston and Newbridge's Megan Jennings, who polled 10 votes in one less match.

In a big night for Newbridge, the Maroons also picked up the C-grade netball best and fairest.

Rochelle Daley was named best player in the competition with 16 votes and a ratio of 1.45.

Bears Lagoon-Serpentine's Gabrielle Gadsden was runner-up with 14 votes at 1.27. Third placegetter Keira Lane polled 15 votes, one more than Gadsden, but Bridgewater played an extra match and Lane's ratio was 1.25. Pyramid Hill's Karly Mitchell was fourth with 12 votes at 1.0.

In the C-reserve vote count, MGYCW's Grace Pigdon won the award on match ratio.

Pigdon polled 17 votes, one less than Bridgewater's Brooke Watson, but the Eagles played one less match.

That gave Pigdon a ratio of 1.55, with Watson runner-up on 1.50.

That duo cleared out from Bears Lagoon-Serpentine's Jemma Holmberg and Newbridge's Skye Ferns on 10 votes at 0.91.

Marong's Georgina McGrath and Mitiamo duo Amy Hayes and Marlee Ingamells also polled 10 votes, but they had ratios of 0.83.

Calivil United's Georgia Mangan was rewarded for a standout season in the under-17 netball.

Calivil United played eight matches for the season and Mangan picked up votes in seven of them, including five lots of three votes.

Mangan's 19 votes earned her a superb ratio of 2.38.

MGYCW's Phoenix Pointon was runner-up with 15 votes at 1.67, while Bridgewater's Danielle Flood was third with 13 votes at 1.30.

Bridgewater's Daisy Stringer and Newbridge's Abbi Wells tied in a remarkable under-15 netball vote count.

Stringer and Wells both polled in all 10 of their respective team's matches and finished with 24 votes at a ratio of 2.4. Stringer and Wells polled 13 more votes than MGYCW duo Anika Bysouth and Charli Pigdon with 11 votes at 1.22.
