A Melbourne resident infected with COVID-19 has been confirmed to have been working in Ballarat.
Victoria's COVID Commander Jeroen Weimar confirmed on Monday morning a disability care worker had attended a residential disability site last week.
"They were infectious on the 9th and 10th of September, when they worked an overnight shift," Mr Weimar said.
"There's 10 primary close contacts. Of the four residents there, three have been vaccinated."
Mr Weimar said the worker was permitted to be in Ballarat at the time, but it served as a reminder for essential workers from Melbourne to be extra vigilant.
There were six new cases also recorded in regional Victoria.
Three of the cases are in Geelong and the other three are in Mildura.
All six are primary close contacts.
Of today's 473 cases:
- 338 cases are in the northern suburbs, in key suburbs such as Craigieburn, Roxburgh Park, Meadow Heights, Broadmeadows and Glenroy.
- 7 are in western suburbs such as Truganina, Altona North, and Tarneit.
- 23 are in south-eastern suburbs including in Casey, Kardinia, Dandenong, Berwick and Clayton.
- Nine in eastern suburbs, including Doncaster East and Ferntree Gully.
- Six in regional Victoria, including three in Mildura and three in Geelong.

Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas announced two initiatives for construction workers, including priority vaccination access for construction workers and an enforcement blitz.
There will be 20,000 Pfizer appointments released and unlimited access to AstraZeneca to all construction workers.
About 87 per cent of all active cases now under the age of 50 and with 585 of current cases aged 19 or younger, the state government has expanded the vaccine eligibility to anyone aged 12 years and over.
There are 529 active COVID cases under age of nine, 840 aged in their 20s and 627 in their 30s.
Health Minister said most COVID-19 cases are in young people.
"Today, like our general practice and primary healthcare partners, we are of course pleased to expand the vaccine eligibility to anyone aged 12 years and over, and with 585 of the current active cases aged 19 or younger, the importance of vaccinating teenagers is clearly very strong," he said.
He said 529 of the active cases are under the age of nine years.
The state is now sitting at 66.9 per cent vaccination in those over the age of 16, with 41 per cent of Victorians fully vaccinated.
Seven deaths from COVID-19 were reported to NSW Health and 137,668 tests were conducted in the same timeframe.
There are 1,189 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 222 people in intensive care, 94 on ventilators.
