LVFNL - How every club has performed on the football field and netball court this year

THE Loddon Valley Football-Netball League has ruled out a return to play this season, calling off its finals series that never got the chance to make a start on Friday.

The LVFNL's last-gasp hope for completing its season was for a minimum two-week finals series culminating in a grand final at Maiden Gully on September 25.

However, the LVFNL has joined the growing list of leagues to have pulled the pin on 2021 with only training currently permitted for community sport under Friday's easing of regional Victorian restrictions.

"Unfortunately, the easing of restrictions permits outdoor training only for community sport. This limitation will be in place until September 23, 2021. Therefore the LVFNL board of management regretfully confirms that the 2021 finals series is now cancelled," the league said in a statement.

"Season 2021 has proven to be very challenging for all involved in community sport. The LVFNL board of management wish to thank all clubs for their support, persistence, patience and contributions throughout the year.

"The LVFNL board of management wish LVFNL clubs and all supporters the very best for the remainder of 2021 and look forward to season 2022."

Teams that finished on top of each ladder will be recognised as minor premiers:

FOOTBALL:

Seniors: Mitiamo (undefeated).

Reserves: Marong (undefeated).

Under-18s: Maiden Gully YCW.

NETBALL:

A grade: Mitiamo.

B grade: Marong.

C grade: Maiden Gully YCW (undefeated).

C reserve: Maiden Gully YCW (undefeated).

17-under: Maiden Gully YCW (undefeated).

15-under: Maiden Gully YCW.

13-under: Calivil United (undefeated).

"It's obviously a disappointing way for the season to come to an end, but we're happy that we can now provide our clubs with some clarity," LVFNL chairman Simon Tuohey said.

"It's a shame for all the clubs and players that have put the effort in."

Under the LVFNL's original 2021 fixture released last December, Saturday would have been the league's grand final day.

The calling off of the finals series comes after the league had to abandon five home and away rounds during lockdowns.

The LVFNL will broadcast its vote count for each grade of football and netball on radio station Fresh FM from 6.30pm on Monday.
