Havilah Road preschool teacher Gail Dwyer said the idea came about while discussing lockdowns and distance during circle time.
Ms Dwyer said the children were sharing their feelings and mentioned they missed their extended family.
"In discussion with the children at circle time, we had the children sharing they mentioned that they were missing their grandparents and extended family," she said.
"That made us think what we could do to brighten someone's day."
Ms Dwyer said one of the parents at the preschool is a critical care manager of the Bupa Aged Care facility and mentioned that residents would love to receive gifts from the children.
"The children wanted to paint pictures and cards and they drew pictures on three canvasses and then painted over them," she said.
"Each child drew and or decorated a card for the residents."
Ms Dwyer said they wanted to brighten someone's day and hoped the gifts did just that.
