Che Travis Hennessy, 43, appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court last week where he pleaded guilty to trafficking a drug of dependence.
The court heard on the morning of March 25 this year, police executed a search warrant at Hennessy's Wedderburn home.
He was there with his partner when police arrived.
Officers seized Hennessy's phone, which showed a number of messages relating to drug trafficking.
There was also a black bumbag found in the house, which contained tick sheets, scales, and an ice pipe.
Hennessy was arrested and interviewed by police.
He made full admissions to trafficking methamphetamine around Wedderburn, but told officers he did so to "keep his head above water".
Defence lawyer Alex McLennan told the court Hennessy had been cooperative with police and entered a guilty plea at an early stage.

Mr McLennan said Hennessy's life started to unravel in 2017 when he was injured in a collision with a garbage truck and his marriage broke down.
The defence lawyer said Hennessy turned to drugs but these charges were the "wake-up call" he needed.
Mr McLennan submitted that a community corrections order would be the appropriate sentence.
Magistrate Megan Aumair agreed, convicting and sentencing Hennessy to a 12-month community corrections order.
