Gisborne police are set to reunite a car fanatic with their stolen Mazda R100 eight years after it was stolen.
Police last week became aware of the possible location the Mazda R100 on a rural property in Lancefield.
The car was originally reported stolen from Ivanhoe in 2013.
Gisborne Sergeant Shaye Sidon, with support from Kyneton Police and Macedon Ranges CIU, located and seized the vintage Mazda.
A 26-year-old man was spoken to at the property but was cleared from being involved in the theft.
After being forensically examined, the vehicle will be returned to its owner who never gave up looking.
The investigation into the original theft of the vehicle has recommenced, with new avenues of inquiry being followed.
Anyone with information phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
