Specimen Hill Primary School prep teachers Todd Broadbent and Bridey Welton created the Bluey and Bingo lockdown challenge this week, in hope to spread some fun and positivity during challenging times.

Mr Broadbent said it was a great way for students and community members to get their daily exercise in while completing different educational tasks.

He said the challenge initially started as something small for their prep class to enjoy, but soon grew.

"We decided to create a lockdown challenge for our preps and it ended up getting extended to the school community to do while in lockdown," he said.

"Our preps are massive fans of Bluey and Bingo and we thought that would be perfect to a challenge involving them.

"We have put posters around the local Bendigo area around our primary school community that they would be able to find and there are some different types of challenges on there for them to do. It might be some fitness ones or some literacy and numeracy questions for them to complete."

Ms Welton said however it ended up becoming a popular challenge for all members of the community.

"It has been really positive and we started to see some people getting involved and that afternoon when we launched, we could see who was logging on through the QR code and pretty quickly we saw people who were joining in who didn't know anything about it or were part of the school community," she said.

"From there, we have been seeing lovely comments on our Facebook and Instagram and a lot of people are just having fun and enjoying the warmer weather and getting out and participating."

The challenge involves a map of Bendigo and highlights particular places and challenges for members to complete, which have been marked with a "Bluey".

On each poster, there is a QR Code for you to scan once you've finished the task so that we can keep track of which ones you've completed.

Please make sure you follow all of the current COVID Guidelines and complete this challenge in a safe manner.

The two local businesses, Old Green Bean and Awaken Coffee also jumped on board in to participate.

Mr Broadbent said it was extremely important to rollout something positive and different like this during lockdown.

"As teachers we have been trying to keep learning as engaging as possible and we know all of the kids want to be at school and be with their friends like that," he said.

"We were trying to think of an activity that was COVVIDSafe but also keep them engaged in learning and get their exercise in.

"We wanted to do something that involved the whole school community that kept everyone entertained."
