The four-year-gelding, who joined Robinson's Bendigo stable from Mick Price and Michael Kent Junior, had produced some reasonable performances in his previous four starts for his new trainer in a little over a month during July and early-August.

But he appeared to thrive on the 18-days between races by putting in a convincing front-running performance to win by over two-lengths over the 2100m trip at Echuca.

Equine Philosopher was also back in distance after fading late over the 2400m trip at Bendigo earlier this month, when he finished fourth behind Without a cause from the Archie Alexander stable.

Robinson, who is approaching 22 months of being based in Bendigo, was rapt to see the four-year-old convert a big lead into a win after being swamped at his last run.

"We freshend him up after that, we probably just gave him too many runs too close together and probably just took the edge off him a bit," he said.

"We backed off him, jumped him a bit and had him out in the bush and got him happy.

"I thought he was a bit too fresh in the yard, but he thought he was good enough to do it and did."

The promising Equine Philosopher notched up his first win at career start number 12.

He had previously been placed three times.

Mikaela Lawrence, who has ridden Equine Philosopher in four of his five starts for Robinson, was conscious of being able to capitalise on another bold front-running effort.

"I think I was maybe letting them catch me too early in his previous starts, so today I thought I'd let him slide a little bit and it paid dividends," she said.

"I actually thought I wasn't going to lead, I'd take a sit, but I was only going to be caught three-wide.

"I changed my plan out the back and it worked out Jarrod had him spot on - he's running really well for him."

The win was Robinson's first this season from 10 starters.
