Loosely based on his own experiences of apple picking in central Victoria, Laverty said the novella will have readers thinking about apples, cider and life itself in a different light.
Laverty released the novella last month and said he was excited for central Victorians to get their hands on a copy.
"I think this is different and there's not many novella's out there and I really enjoy the form," he said.
"In this busy lifestyle that we all have at the moment, not everyone has time to sit and read a novel that will take between 10-15 hours and this you can probably do in one to two hours.
"I really love this format and it's a series on interconnecting short stories, around 50 to 60 characters and they all connect in the end, the style is different and I am really happy with it and how it has turned out."
Laverty is a Scottish-Australian writer and journalist based in Castlemaine.
He is the host of 94.9 Main FM book show, The Quiet Carriage, which also airs across the nation on the Community Radio Network.
He is currently completing a creative writing PhD at Curtin University. His first novella, Man Overbored, was published in 2019 via RoadHouse Media.
Laverty will be officially launching Cider Country on August 17 at Northern Books' 'Books at the Brewery' night at The Taproom in Castlemaine and more information can be found here.
