The 24-year-old man appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to charges including recklessly causing injury.
The court heard on May 9 this year the man and his brother had a verbal argument in the family home.

The argument turned violent when the man picked up a kitchen knife and threatened his brother.
The two men moved outside to the roadside and the victim picked up a tree branch so he could repeatedly hit the offender to the head and stomach.
The branch then broke and the victim stepped backwards with his hands raised, but the 24-year-old came at his brother and stabbed him in the abdomen.
The court heard the man was emotional as his brother laid on the ground with a stab wound.
He did not render assistance and instead returned inside, leaving a bystander to bring his brother to hospital.
The man on Tuesday also pleaded guilty to another family violence incident on July 9.
The court heard he assaulted his mother and sister inside their family home, before punching holes into walls and doors.
He was arrested and remanded in custody. The man told police he could not remember the incident with his mother and sister.
Defence lawyer Robert Southgate told the court the man had a "rich history" of mental health issues and illicit substance abuse.
Mr Southgate said the man believed he was defending himself against his brother and did not recall the incident with his sister and mother.
Magistrate Patrick Southey said the man's criminal history was "truly alarming".
"He's a threat to the community when he uses drugs," Mr Southey said.
Mr Southey said although the man had previously served jail terms for his violent offending, he needed support in place for when he was released from custody.
The man was ordered to undergo a Justice Plan assessment to see if he could be placed on a community corrections order.
The man was remanded in custody and is due to return to the Bendigo Magistrates' Court next month.
