NWL Vic League One men had a tough opponent in the Old Xaverians who put up a challenging performance and prevented Lightning from scoring.
The second-placed Old Xaverians put a mammoth seven goals on the board to see out the match at 0-7 comfortably.
NWL men now sit on the bottom of the ladder with a 0-1-8 record.
The men's reserves (1-0-7) also had a similar day on the pitch with a 0-5 loss to the Old Xaverians and are also on the bottom of the ladder.
NWL Vic League One women endured their second loss of the season at the hands of Monash in a narrow 0-1 defeat.
The women (7-2) remain second on the ladder behind Geelong, the only other team that has defeated them this season.
In the women's reserves match neither NWL or Monash were able to score which saw out the game as a 0-0 draw.
The women's reserves are now fifth on the ladder with a 4-3-2 record.
Following the latest easing of restrictions, Hockey Victoria has made minor adjustments to the structure of the overall season.
Previously fixtured round 10 matches have been moved to the weekend of September 4-5, with the previously fixtured round 11 matches now removed.
The three-week finals series starts on September 11-12, with the grand final scheduled for Friday September 24.
