The Braves rebounded from a tough 10-point loss on the road against Geelong Supercats on Saturday night, to defeat arch-rival Ballarat by 13 points at Bendigo Stadium on Sunday.
One of coach David Hogan team's best and certainly most crucial wins for the season was powered by an outstanding performance by Ray Turner.
The American-born power forward scorched the Miners for 32 points and 19 rebounds as the Braves prevailed 84-71.
It was another big weekend for Turner, who contributed an equal team-high 19 points and nine rebounds, in a 90-80 loss to the Supercats.
The foundations for Sunday's win were laid in the first half, with the Braves advancing to an eight-point lead at quarter time and 19 at half time on the back of a 29-18 second quarter.
One of the architects behind the brilliant first half was Jacob Foy, who finished with 15 points, four assists and three rebounds.
After equal top scoring with 19 points and dishing out five assists against the Supercats, Brennan Rymer contributed 10 points, six points and rebounds against the Miners.
It was an important head-to-head win, with the Braves entering the weekend in ninth position, one spot behind the Miners, who were riding a five-game win streak going into Sunday.
