BEARS LAGOON-SERPENTINE
FOOTBALL (5th, 5-4) - the Bears are well positioned to make a return to the finals for the fourth season in a row sitting two games clear inside the top five. Won their previous game by 248 points against Inglewood to not only claim four points, but also gave their percentage a healthy boost from 94.0 to 131.3. In for a far more challenging afternoon this Saturday against Marong.
NETBALL - no team.
REMAINING GAMES - v Marong, v Maiden Gully YCW, v Pyramid Hill.
BRIDGEWATER
FOOTBALL (2nd, 9-1) - headed for the double chance with their only loss so far having come against Mitiamo in round nine when beaten by 37 points. Will get another crack at the Superoos in the final round in a game where potentially top spot could be the prize for the winner. Beat Newbridge by 46 points in their last game after being pushed for three-and-a-half quarters.
NETBALL (4th, 7-3) - had won their last two games before the break against Newbridge (by 25) and Inglewood (16) to be sitting fourth on the ladder. Two big tests still to come with games against Maiden Gully YCW (2nd) and Mitiamo (1st) among their last three.
REMAINING GAMES - v Maiden Gully YCW, v Pyramid Hill, v Mitiamo.
CALIVIL UNITED
FOOTBALL (8th, 1-9) - a chance for the Demons to take a deep breath over the past two weeks following a pair of heavy losses against Mitiamo (134 points) and Pyramid Hill (130) prior to the standstill. Only one win so far, but have two winnable opportunities in their next two games against Inglewood and Newbridge before a final round bye to close out 2021.
NETBALL (3rd, 7-3) - were in fine form before the lockdown having won six games in a row, including inflicting Mitiamo's first loss of the season in their last game. Will be hoping to pick up from where they left off starting this Saturday against Inglewood.
REMAINING GAMES - v Inglewood, v Newbridge, bye.
INGLEWOOD
FOOTBALL (9th, 0-10) - been tough going all year for the Blues, particularly the four-game stretch between the two season pauses when they endured three goal-less games. Hopefully, this chance to refresh the Blues' young bodies can result in a much more competitive end to the season.
NETBALL (8th, 2-8) - only two wins have been their forfeit victories over BL-Serpentine. Challenging finish to the season on the horizon with their remaining three games all against sides in the top five.
REMAINING GAMES - v Calivil United, v Marong, v Maiden Gully YCW.
MAIDEN GULLY YCW
FOOTBALL (6th, 3-6) - sitting two games, plus percentage, outside the top five with only three rounds remaining shows the Eagles' finals hopes are slim at best, particularly given their underdog status against Bridgewater this week. Have had an extended break given they had the bye the week before the latest standstill.
NETBALL (2nd, 8-1) - headed for the double chance, it's just a matter of whether they can snatch top spot from Mitiamo. Play Bridgewater in what will be their first game for 28 days this Saturday, but will then be sidelined again the following week with no game against BL-Serpentine.
REMAINING GAMES - v Bridgewater, v BL-Serpentine, v Inglewood.
MARONG
FOOTBALL (3rd, 8-2) - had been in red-hot form during the four weeks between the two season pauses. Had won four in a row by an average of 135 points before their momentum was halted. Should finish with three more wins and head into the finals on a roll with their first double chance since 2004.
NETBALL (5th, 5-5) - sit fifth as they aim to end their finals drought and given their run home would need to capitulate not to finish in the five from here. Their return will have to wait a week though given their opponent on Saturday is scheduled to be BL-Serpentine.
REMAINING GAMES - v BL-Serpentine, v Inglewood, v Newbridge.
MITIAMO
FOOTBALL (1st, 10-0) - the reigning premiers are again the team to beat, undefeated and a game clear on top of the ladder. Couple of big tests to round out the season with a trip to Pyramid Hill this week and clash against second-placed Bridgewater in round 18 with a bye in between.
NETBALL (1st, 9-1) - had been undefeated before dropping their last game before the pause when beaten 60-56 by Calivil United. With a bye still to come, would only play two games in 48 days heading into the second semi-final if they were to remain on top.
REMAINING GAMES - v Pyramid Hill, bye, v Bridgewater.
NEWBRIDGE
FOOTBALL (7th, 2-8) - another week off for the Maroons with the bye this Saturday. Have shown improvement over the course of the season and should be able to get a third win on the board when they resume with an away game against Calivil United on August 7.
NETBALL (7th, 2-8) - will be on-lookers in the finals for the first time since 2014. Only have two wins on the board and can't finish in the top five from here, even if they were to cause upsets in their last two games.
REMAINING GAMES - bye, v Calivil United, v Marong.
PYRAMID HILL
FOOTBALL (4th, 6-4) - no easing back into the season for the Bulldogs, with their next two games against the two top sides in Mitiamo and Bridgewater. Will need to improve significantly on the 83-point hiding they copped from Marong in their last game.
NETBALL (6th, 4-6) - still in the finals hunt, but destiny is out of their hands given they are a game behind fifth-placed Marong, which has the more favourable run home from here.
REMAINING GAMES - v Mitiamo, v Bridgewater, v BL-Serpentine.
