Slender, the Pioneers captain in 2021, and classy midfielder Snell were both selected in Tuesday night's AFLW draft.
North Melbourne pounced with the first selection of the second round - the 19th pick overall - to pick Slender.
Seven picks later, Snell's name was read out for the Western Bulldogs.
"To have both girls selected is just fantastic and as a club we couldn't be more excited for them,'' Pioneers' coach Danny O'Bree said.
"It's a reward for effort them. They've both worked so hard to get to this point."
The Roos were keen to add more class and depth to their forward line and Strathfieldsaye Storm product Slender provides just that.
Slender played in a variety of positions for the Pioneers in her time with the club, but inside forward 50 is where she's most dangerous.
"Tara developed in our school (Bendigo South East College) program for a number of years and she's done extra work to improve her game,'' O'Bree said.
"Tara's been developing some of our (Pioneers) younger players as well this year, which is a feather in her cap.
"When Tara was 16 she was playing centre half-back for the Pioneers, which is an incredible achievement.
"She's quite versatile and she could even become a good sized midfielder in time once she learns more of the craft.
"It's exciting that she has a few strings to her bow, while a few of the others are targeted with one position.
"That versatility made her more draftable than some others."
Snell, from Kyneton, is a hard working, ball magnet through the middle of the ground.
"Snelly's work ethic is amazing,'' O'Bree said.
"She's been involved in four programs this year - Pioneers, Essendon VFL, Kyneton and Vic Country - and for her to get the results she did is a credit to her.
"To immerse yourself in one prgram takes a big effort, but to do it in four and then get your name read out by the Bulldogs is fantastic."
"She's a super competitor and when the tough get going, she goes even harder."
