After the announcement on Tuesday morning that community sport had received the green light, AFL central Victoria immediately started planning to resume this weekend.
"We're waiting for all the restrictions and protocols to be finalised but from what was announced earlier on Tuesday, we will be going ahead this weekend," AFL CV football operations manager Nathan Williams said.
"All grades will be in action for this weekend's scheduled round 14."

Williams was pleased by the prospect of junior footballers returning to competition this weekend.
"I'm sure parents are keen to get their kids back to school and also outdoors to play some sport," he said.
"In regards to the missed weeks of the 16-round season, we're currently looking at it in terms of who has already played each other before the lockdown and we will finalise any changes later this the season."
The current plan remains to hold finals matches no later than the weekend September 11-12.
In the latest easing of restrictions physical recreation and sport is allowed to resume under strict rules.
Physical recreation and sport:
- Open with a maximum cap of 100 people per space indoor and 300 per space outdoors.
- There's a density limit of one person per four square metres with COVID-19 marshals to ensure attendees check-in.
- Group limit of 10 people
Community sport:
- Open for all ages, training and competition. Density limit of one person per four square metres.
- Limited to minimum number of people required to participate in and facilitate the activity
- Spectators are NOT allowed (excludes people necessary for events such as teachers, instructors, trainers, coaches, parents and guardians)
Head of AFL Victoria, Brad Scott welcomed the announcement.
"AFL Victoria welcomes the Victorian Government's announcement that lockdown will be lifted, which means community football is back across the state from this weekend, from Auskick through to senior club football," he said.
"While it is great that football is back, not having spectators allowed does create challenges and we will continue to work closely with the government and health authorities to advocate for what community football needs, while the health and safety of everyone remains a priority.
"We urge Victorians to adhere to the Government's rules regarding spectators, which will help ensure we can get crowds back at community football soon.
"I would like to thank the Victorian Government for acknowledging and recognising AFL Victoria's submission on behalf of community football, regarding easing of restrictions."
AFL CV will continue working with the state government to provide clubs with the latest and most accurate information possible.
Decisions related to how best approach any COVID-19 interruptions are ultimately up to independent leagues who will communicate further details to all relevant stakeholders.
