After meeting Casey O'Brien, who has beaten cancer five times, at Wednesday's 3M Open Pro-Am, Herbert was inspired to raise money to support the Journey Clinic at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital.

"Today's Pro-Am at @3mopen was really cool for me. I had the privilege to play with @caseyob14, who I found out has beaten cancer an unbelievable five times since the age of 13," Herbert posted on Instagram.

"He has spent over 300 nights in the hospital beating osteosarcoma, a very rare bone cancer in his leg.

"I felt so proud as an ambassador for @challengecancer when Casey said he idolised Jarrod Lyle, watching him from his hospital bed, and feeling a connection to Jarrod as a fellow cancer survivor."

To support O'Brien's goal of raising $1,000,000, Herbert will be donating $200 per birdie and $500 per eagle this week at the 3M Open.

Lyle, also an ambassador for Challenge, passed away in 2018 after a long battle with cancer.

His legacy lives on stronger than ever within the Australian golf community through the #DoingItForJarrod campaign.

Challenge supports families by helping provide teen camps, family outings, school holiday programs, art therapy, music therapy, massage therapy, date nights for parents, home help, toddler play group, concert and event tickets, music and education scholarship and holiday accommodation - all which are provided free of charge.

"Jarrod was one of the best humans on the planet and to hear first hand how he inspired other cancer patients made me so happy to work with Challenge," Herbert said.

"These guys do seriously life changing work and it really puts your life into perspective when you see what they do."

The 25-year-old will tee up at 3AM Friday morning AEST alongside Kyle Stanley and Josh Teater in round one of the 3M Open held at TPC Twin Cities, Minnesota.

The par-72 course was designed by Arnold Palmer and features plenty of water, bunkers and tricky tee shots which put the best to the test.

Herbert heads into the round on the back of a three-week stint in Europe which included a win at the Irish Open, T4 at the Scottish Open and a missed cut at the British Open.

He is currently ranked 50 in the world and is 15^th on the Race to Dubai Standings.
