STRATHDALE-Maristians' Grant Waldron and Spring Gully's Rhys Webb have both been rewarded for their stellar 2020-21 seasons by being named in the Victorian Country Cricket League's Team of the Year.
Webb has made the team for the second season in a row having been the most dominant player in the Emu Valley Cricket Association, with the star all-rounder winning the Col Brayshaw Award for a second time.
Webb earned the No.3 spot in the VCCL team for a home and away season in which he plundered 758 runs at an average of 84.2 and also took 21 wickets with his spin.
Webb's superb season with the bat included three centuries - 140 n.o. against California Gully in round three, 114 n.o. against Emu Creek in round five and 115 against Axe Creek in round 18.
In his five seasons since joining Spring Gully Webb has blasted 3225 runs at an average of 54.6 with 11 centuries from 65 innings.
Meanwhile, Waldron was a key cog in Strathdale-Maristians completing an unblemished Bendigo District Cricket Association premiership season.
The class top-order batsman churned out 592 runs at an average of 65.7 in the home and away season to earn the No.6 spot in the VCCL Team of the Year.
At one stage Waldron was averaging 140.0 afternine rounds following a red-hot patch of early form that included making 115 n.o. against Bendigo at the QEO in round two.
