Data from the department shows that more than 68,000 COVID-19 vaccinations have been administered at the state government-run vaccination centre in Bendigo.

The Bendigo Public Health Unit has delivered 46,259 first doses to people and 22,155 second dose for a total of 68,414.

Bendigo's vaccination unit includes most of the Loddon Mallee area and stretches from Mildura to Echuca and down to Gisborne. Bendigo's Mollison Street vaccination site has administered more than 46,000 vaccines.

Federal Department of Health data shows Victoria has delivered 1,453,158 vaccinations as part of the national rollout.

It means Victoria has administered 31 per cent of the 4,637,777 vaccinations already delivered across the whole of Australia. As of July 7, 14,000 Loddon Mallee residents were fully vaccinated.

"Victorians continue to come forward for vaccination in their thousands, and now account for almost 28 per cent of all doses administered in Australia so far," a Victorian Department of Health spokesperson said.

"We urge everyone eligible for COVID-19 vaccination to make a booking, particularly if they are due for their second dose."

People are able to get COVID-19 vaccinations through state vaccination centres, general practices and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services across Victoria.

Victoria's chief health officer Brett Sutton thanked everyone who had already started their vaccination process and noted there is good availability of vaccine appointment in Bendigo and Geelong.

"Thank you to all those Victorians who are turning out in big numbers to get their vaccinations," he said. "I hope all those due to get their second dose in the coming weeks to book that in and get that vaccine.

"There are plenty of appointments available in system and more than 35,000 Pfizer appointments available and also good appointments available in the regional centres of Geelong and Bendigo."

A Bendigo Health spokesperson said people in the health sector are still being prioritised for the Pfizer vaccine.

"Bendigo Health continues to work within existing vaccine supply constraints, prioritising healthcare workers and those that work in the health sector for the Pfizer vaccine," the spokesperson said.

A Murray PHN spokesperson said primary care organisations across its network had seen more than 110,000 vaccines administered.

Primary care organisations include general practice, General Practice Respiratory Clinics and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.

"This continues to be a fantastic response from GPs and their teams," Murray PHN chief executive Matt Jones said. "There are more general practices coming on board as vaccination providers, so we encourage people to use the eligibility checker to both find out when they're eligible and book an appointment.

"We particularly encourage those people over the age of 70, aged care workers, health and disability care workers who are not yet vaccinated to book in for their first jab as soon as they can."

The Murray PHN network stretches across the North West, central Victoria, Goulburn Valley and north east parts of the state including Mildura, Albury-Wodonga and Castlemaine.

Dr Sutton said people should get vaccinated at their nearest clinic.

"While one of the five reasons to leave home is for vaccination, you must use common sense," he said. "We had a case of a couple from metropolitan Melbourne travelling to regional Victoria to get their vaccine.

"Their ID was checked and it was noted they weren't from regional Victoria. They thought it was a good excuse for a drive but it really isn't. Get vaccinated at the nearest place and don't look for excuse to go to regional Victoria."
