KYNETON'S Paul Chapman is clear to coach the Tigers in their next BFNL game after receiving a suspended sentence at the BFNL tribunal on Wednesday night.
Chapman was found guilty of "using abusive, insulting, threatening or obscene language towards or in relation to an umpire" during last Saturday's loss to South Bendigo at the QEO.
However, the two-match suspended sentence for the remainder of the 2021 season means Chapman is eligible to continue coaching.
"It was unfortunate that we had to go up there (to the tribunal), but we're happy with the outcome and we can move forward as a club," Kyneton president Hayden Evans said on Thursday.
"The club backs the coach and Paul's concern has always been about player safety... because we've got such a young team he always wants to make sure his players are safe on the field.
"We got a fair hearing from the tribunal and believe the right outcome has been reached."
Triple Geelong premiership player and 2009 Norm Smith medallist Chapman is the highest profile inclusion into the BFNL this year who at the age of 39 is a non-playing coach.
Chapman's Tigers sit seventh on the BFNL ladder with a 3-8 record and coming off a tough period of matches with five-consecutive games against the top five teams since the re-start from the two-week season pause.
The Tigers had a big day planned at the Kyneton Showgrounds on Saturday with what was the club's Rural Round.
The day will feature guest speaking appearances from dual North Melbourne premiership player - and 1996 Norm Smith medallist - Glenn Archer, and former North Melbourne coach Brad Scott, who is now the head of AFL Victoria.
