The 37-year-old man appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to breaching the bond.
The court heard on November 30, 2019, the man assaulted his partner in front of one of his children.
He grabbed the woman by the hair and repeatedly pushed her head into the ground.
The couple's four children were in the house at the time but fled to the neighbour's property as a result of the assault.
The woman was eventually able to get away from the man and contact police.
The court heard the man pleaded guilty to the offending in December 2019 and was sentenced to a 12-month good behaviour bond without conviction.
He returned to the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Tuesday after he failed to complete a men's behavioural change program, which was a condition on the bond.
The defence lawyer told the court that the man had tried to register for the program in 2020 but was unable to due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The lawyer said once restrictions eased and the program restarted, the man was unable to attend the sessions as he had paid employment scheduled for the same time.
The lawyer said the man's partner, who was the victim in the matter, had since had a stroke and other health issues so he would need to be the primary carer for his children.
Magistrate Susan Wakeling said given the offending happened in front of the children, it was even more important that the man completed the men's behavioural change program.
Ms Wakeling said she understood that the COVID-19 pandemic had posed some challenges, but the man needed to prioritise the sessions.
"If you are serious about behavioural change, you will ensure that you complete that program," she said.
The man told the magistrate that he needed to go to his paid employment so he could provide for his children.
But Ms Wakeling said, "how can your children live safely with you if you don't complete the program?"
The man was convicted and fined $1200.
