MIFF launched its full program today with more than 280 films to be featured between August 5 and 22.
It is the first time regional centres will host MIFF films at the same time as the main festival.

MIFF programmer Kate Jinx said taking the festival to regional centres had always been a successful venture.
"It is nice that (this year) the spirit of the festival will be felt through Victoria at same time," she said. "Regional centres) really get involved and the programming teams behind those cinemas are in touch with our team with what they think are good (films) for their region.
"Film selections are curated for each cinema, which is great."
Among the films being featured in Eaglehawk will be Australian films Off Country and Lone Wolf.
Ms Jinx said there was a record amount of Australia Premiere Funded titles in this year's festival.
"Off Country is a really interesting one that looks at Indigenous scholarship students at Geelong Grammar," she said. "They all speak incredibly eloquently about the experiences and challenges they face.
"That was filmed partly during the pandemic, where students had to leave campus, go home and reckon with the notion of whether they want to be at school and away from their families and communities. It's a touching and incredible film."
International films We are the Thousand (Italy) James and Isey (New Zealand), Stray (USA), Together Together (USA) and Preparations to Be Together for an Unknown Period of Time (Hungary).
"Stray was Hot Docs' Best International Feature Documentary winner and is absolutely heartwarming," Ms Jinx said. "It looks at stray dogs in Turkey and follows them around the city. It's a nice way to travel as well as watching a film."
From August 16, MIFF will make some of its films available online - an innovation they introduced for their festival last year.
"This year we decided to be a bit risk-averse and deliver a hybrid event," Ms Jinx said. "We're very hopeful in the cinema festival going ahead but are also offering films online.
"The online aspect has particularly been great. To reach people with different accessibility needs and who are outside the city...but nothing compares to a cinema setting."
The Melbourne International Film Festival is on from August 5 to 22. Visit www.miff.com.au for the full program.
