Elizabeth Snell was named as the 2021 Southcombe Family Best and Fairest winner after a strong season with the club in the NAB League, in addition to playing with Vic Country and Essendon in the VFLW.

Drew Ryan was named as the Best and Fairest runner-up after an impressive year on ground.

Octavia Di Donato and Bryde O'Rourke were this year's MVP winners as both demonstrated great development as players on and off the ground.

Rising star Tara Slender received the Ken "Ginge" Gilbee Award which is given to the player who best motivates fellow teammates as well as emphasises the spirit of the Pioneers.

Lila Keck was the recipient of the Best First Year Award for a stellar season which saw her determined to succeed and give her best effort.

Pearl Sullivan and Chantelle Mitchell received the Community Spirit Award for going above and beyond to help the team wherever needed.

Bendigo Pioneers boys returned to the field on Sunday for an away match against the Western Jets.

Pioneers started off positively booting the first four goals to put the Jets immediately on the back foot.

However, the fired up Jets - who were without captain Billy Cootee due to an ankle injury - regrouped to bring the deficit down to 11 points at the main break 8.5 (53) over 6.6 (42).

During the second half the Pioneers were restricted to just two goals in comparison to the Jets 12-goal scoring spree.

Cobi Maxted top scored and led the best on ground for the Pioneers with four goals, while Luke Ellings booted one on debut.

Pioneers are now 5-4 ahead of next week's round 13 away clash against Gippsland Power.
