DANCE EVENTS
GREATER BENDIGO DANCELAND
Danceland is on every Saturday evening and would like to advise patrons it has introduced a new start and finish time for winter. Events are now 7pm to 10pm.
There are rotating programs of old-time and new vogue dances and a beautiful selection of CD music is played by music directors.
There is a COVID-safe plan. Danceland will provide tea and coffee and individually wrapped biscuits for supper. People can bring their own supper, however it cannot be shared with others.
There is the usual raffle, lucky door and lucky spot.

DANCING NIGHT
Enjoy an evening dance with the Spring Gully Dance committee.
This event will have upbeat CD music and a supper with tea, coffee and individually wrapped biscuits.
Admission $7.
The committee also hosts Monday evening dances with $4 admission.

COMMUNITY EVENTS
WINE TASTING
Bendigo's winemakers will open their doors to give people a taste of their drops and a look into winemaking at the weekend.
This wine-tasting is over two days and people can choose to join one barrel wine tasting or more.
Sessions are at 11am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm both days.
Winemakers will take people behind the scenes on tours of their barrel rooms. The wines sampled are at differing stages of maturation.

HYMNS ALIVE
Take a trip down memory lane, make new friends and enjoy singing the hymns of yesteryear at Hymns Alive.
This event will also include guest speaker Tom Ayars.
Afternoon tea supplied.

AUSTRALIAN SHEEP AND WOOL SHOW
Join in the largest event of its type: the Australian Sheep and Wool Show on July 16 to 18.
The event celebrates Australian sheep and will feature breeders competing, fantastic foods, fashions and much more.

BENDIGO FIELD NATURALIST CLUB
Bendigo Field Naturalist Club's general meeting will feature guest speaker Maria Gibson from Deakin University.
The topic of the talk will be 'Anatomy of a forest: investigating the ecology, particularly adaptations to the environment, of plants of the Box-Ironbark forest at Heathcote'.
There will also be a nature documentary on July 28 at the same venue from 7pm.
These meetings are on the second Wednesday of the month.

INTRODUCTION TO TROVE
Discover Trove, a free online service where you can search fully digitised Australian newspapers.
Trove is simple to use and this event will include some great techniques that will assist people in finding what they are after.
This is an introductory session.

HISTORY ARCHIVE OPEN DAY
The Tarnagulla History Archive is a space for all things related to the history of Tarnagulla.
The archive holds photographs, records and artefacts. The collection can be searched online here.
These open days allow visitors to view temporary displays of historical images, have family history questions answered, lodge research requests, order copies of historical images and buy history books.
Visitors can also register interest as a volunteer.

ZONTA FUNDRAISER
Join in for the Zonta Club of Bendigo's fundraiser with the film, Rosemary's Way.
The film celebrates Rosemary Kariuki and a group of migrant women in suburban Sydney whose lives she helps transform from isolation to connection.
All are welcome, cost $20.

LUNCH AND CHAT
Join with others to enjoy a meal and a chat.
This social event is for those aged 55 and over, and will run every week on Tuesday. The social meeting has no joining fees.

AWAKEN
Awaken - Bendigo brought to light is a COVID-safe sensory night event in Rosalind Park.
The free, ticketed event showcases Bendigo's history with radiant installations, displays of lasers, holograms and other sensory experiences.
The event will run for three weeks, giving visitors plenty of time to visit a session.
Rosalind Park will be fenced from 5pm every night with normal access during the day.

EXHIBITIONS AND PERFORMANCES
OLYMPIC EXHIBITION
Rochester's Sports Museum is set to add to its array of sporting memorabilia with a one-off Olympic exhibition to coincide with the Tokyo Games.
The collection includes items on loan from past Olympians.
The permanent display will remain in the north room while this exhibition will be on show in the adjacent south room.
Australian cyclist Tim Decker has loaned his collection including uniforms, racing gloves, bike shoes, signed team jerseys and other items.
BMX rider Sam Willoughby has kindly loaned his 2016 medal-winning BMX and helmet for the display. These items have been borrowed through the Australian BMX Museum.
Several items are unique including a line marker from the 1956 Melbourne Games and a Choir Outfit from the 2000 Sydney Games.
There will also be a cauldron from the 2000 Sydney torch relay.
Rochester's runners are also highlighted at the exhibition with an actual torch on display.

MARY QUANT: FASHION REVOLUTIONARY
The Bendigo Art Gallery is presents Mary Quant: Fashion Revolutionary, an exhibition on the British fashion designer Dame Mary Quant.
The exhibition is on loan from the Victorian and Albert Museum in London and showcases the peak of Quant's career with never-before-seen fashion and radical designs.
The exhibition brings together more than 110 garments, along with accessories, sketches, photos and much more.

#PEREMPUAN 2021
#Perempuan 2021: Contemporary Indonesian Art is an exhibition that celebrates the unspoken stories of Indonesian women.
The works, selected from the Project Eleven Collection, explore activism and traditions through a broad range of art forms including painting, textiles, sculpture and installation.

PLAN AHEAD
FAMILY HISTORY GROUP
The July general meeting for the AIGS Bendigo Family History Group will feature speaker Annette Delaney.
Annette will present An Introduction to DNA, which will assist in developing an understanding of the basics of DNA testing, why people might test, what to be aware of, and how it can help traditional family research.
Stay for a cup of tea and feel welcome to enjoy the meeting.
All interested persons are invited to attend.

40 YEARS OF NETBALL
The Monday Ladies Netball Association is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
Head along and celebrate 40 years of netball and catch up with friends and team-mates.

This will be old-time with some bush dances with music by Emu Creek Bush Band.

Please bring a plate of supper to share or if preferred people can bring their own supper. Tea and coffee will be provided.
All welcome. Come and have a good time getting fit and enjoying other people's company.
