Owner Bill Roberts said ever since news got out about the winning numbers, the High Street store had plenty of business flowing through its doors.
"Word got out quite quickly and we've had plenty of people in checking and scanning their tickets," he said.
"It's definitely been building up over the course of the morning and it's getting pretty exciting."
Mr Roberts said this isn't the first time the newsagency had a big winner come through its doors.
"We've had some pretty big winners - even in the last 12 months - with a customer claiming $2.5 million in February just gone," he said.
"I'd say the store has had about 30 division one winning entries sold in its time.
"But I'd nearly say this is the biggest TattsLotto win in Bendigo's history."
When asked what he would do with the money if he won top prize, Mr Roberts said he wouldn't know where to start.
"I think you would sit down and burn the batteries on your calculator trying to work out what you could afford," he said.
"I think we all say we would help out our families and friends and I think that's what I would do."
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1429 on July 7 were 42, 32, 21, 19, 44, 25 and 33, while the supplementary numbers were 3 and 7.
If you discover the winning ticket, contact The Lott on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize.
