The new classification means the production can welcome a 50 per cent audience capacity in the Ulumbarra Theatre - or 475 people.
It is a win for the theatre company - who were expecting to perform to just 300 people on opening night - days out from their show premiering on Thursday night.

"It's absolutely incredible. We are really looking forward to performing to a fuller house," BTC president Bevan Madden said . "We found this option last week and applied
"The COVID safe plan Bendigo Venues and Events (who run Ulumbarra) have in place at their venues allows the state government to classify (events) under the public events framework.
"Those measures they are taking means we can be classed as tier 3 event, which comes with regulations."
Crowds would be social distance in the 1000-seat theatre and a number of other regulations would be in place for audience members.
Being able to host 50 per cent of the theatre's capacity is also a positive result for the budget of BTC's production with the show set to break even if each show sells its 475 ticket allotment.
"That's a great result but really, being able to perform the show is reward in itself," he said.
"The show will be happening unless were told no performances. That would be case even if this (extra crowd capacity) didn't come through.
"Its a big financial investment every year and to know its not going to lose us money is exciting but to know we have broken even is amazing."

Mr Madden said the cast and crew's focus would no turn to the state government's planned easing of restrictions later in the week.
Health minister Martin Foley last week paused the easing of restrictions as other states grappled with coroanvirus outbreak. Among the restrictions stopped from easing was 100 per cent capacity for Victoria's theatres.
Originally planned for July last year, the cast and crew have endured lockdowns and restrictions that prevented them gathering to rehearse as they prepare for the musical.
"We'll be paying attention Wednesday and Thursday to the state govt announce and hoping restrictions go our way," Mr Madden said.
In the meantime, Mr Madden didn't expect the new allotment of tickets to last long.
"They'll be gone very quickly," he said. "We have had a lot of questions about if we had heard anything more about new tickets.
"We're thinking the Bendigo community, as well as the local theatre community will get around this if they haven't already got tickets."
Bendigo Theatre Company's We Will Rock You is set to perform at Ulumbarra Theatre from July 8 to 11.
