Despite not having any bookings cancelled on Monday, a central Victorian travel agent labelled the current state of the industry as "diabolical".
"We've had constant issues for the past 15 months," the travel agent said.
On a normal day, we have people calling and coming in to talk about holidays or ask for information. On Monday I had no one.

"Those who are coming in, have a resistance to book as they don't want to be stuck in another state or forced to cancel. They're nervous as hell to book."
The travel agent said most people who had booked a trip for the school holidays did so weeks ago with the most popular destination being Cairns and the Sunshine Coast; both of which are still open for Victorian tourism.

The business owner understood the border restrictions, but expressed urgency for better roadmap guidelines out of the pandemic.
"People's confidence is shot," the travel agent said.
"A lot of people's income has changed, my staff are working half-time, and others have to book their holidays a year in advance with work so they don't have the luxury of taking a holiday when restrictions ease.
"It's diabolical. We seem to be the forgotten ones.
"If the roadmap out of here, even for interstate travel, is to all be vaccinated then that's what needs to be done and quickly."
