The decision follows a partnership between the Maryborough Toy Library Committee and shire staff to determine a new suitable site.
The library will now be moved to the Tate Building on Nolan Street, Maryborough.
Central Goldfields Shire councillor Wayne Sproull congratulated the Toy Library Committee and council staff for working collaboratively to find a new, improved home for the service.
"There is long and established research that shows the importance of play in every child's development," he said.
"It's important to us that our local Toy Library has a suitable location to continue to nurture our youngest residents for many years to come."
The Maryborough Toy Library has been located within the kindergarten yard of the Goldfields Family Centre since 1997.
This has made access to the library limited and has prevented families from accessing its services on weekdays.
It's hoped the library's new home will provide a bigger space, better access and additional car parking.
This will also mean the library can now offer extended opening hours.
Other news:
Maryborough Toy Library president Kate Cain said the committee was delighted to be offered the new space.
"Having been in the community for over 30 years and offering over 800 toys for loan, we will be able to maximise the use of our huge range of toys in our new dedicated space offering flexible opening hours to our members," she said.
"We will also welcome playgroups, family day care, kindergartens and parents groups to utilise our toys and space"
Ms Cain said the committee will look forward to welcoming all children from the shire and surrounds to become members and enjoy the new Maryborough Toy Library location.
