Strathfieldsaye man Timothy Werps appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
His lawyer Louise Conwell indicated he would plead guilty to charges of culpable driving and negligent driving causing serious injury.

The offences stemmed from the fatal car crash on McCrae Street in Bendigo on September 28 last year.
Police alleged at a bail hearing last December that Mr Werps was the one driving the Holden Commodore that slammed into a pole and a tree.
Rear passenger Jye Eiffert, who was just weeks shy of his 17th birthday, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene, while an 18-year-old front passenger sustained serious injuries.
The court was told Mr Werps drank alcohol and smoked cannabis before getting behind the wheel.
Multiple CCTV cameras allegedly captured the 19-year-old travelling at a fast speed down the Midland Highway, Napier Street, and McCrae Street, before he lost control of the car and crashed it about 3.11am.
Ms Conwell told the court on Wednesday that the defence had come to an agreement where Mr Werps would plead guilty to the two charges and the other summary offences would be withdrawn.
But the prosecutor told the court that he needed to clarify the changes with the crown prosecutor.
Ms Conwell requested an adjournment so the charges could be finalised.
Magistrate Patrick Southey adjourned the case off to a further committal mention date in July.
Mr Southey noted that Mr Werps had been complying well with his supervised bail conditions.
The 19-year-old's bail was extended to his next court date.
