Reported family violence incidents and breaches in family violence orders increased across many central Victorian municipalities in the past year.
The total number of criminal incidents dropped in five municipalities, but rose in others.

Greater Bendigo
Criminal incidents dropped by 3.5 per cent in Bendigo during 2021, with a total 8029 recorded.
Bendigo, Golden Square and Long Gully all saw incidents drop, while numbers rose in Kangaroo Flat and Eaglehawk.
Criminal damage, stealing from a motor vehicle, breach of family violence order, other theft, and breach of bail conditions were the principal offences committed in Greater Bendigo.
Breach of family violence orders was the only category among these in which offences rose, from 628 in 2020 to 717 in 2021.
Family violence incidents rose by 17.0 per cent, to a total of 2359 in the 12-month period.
The municipality's criminal incident rate was equivalent to 6595.4 per 100,000.
Other news:
The shire's criminal incidents rate dropped by 18.3 per cent during 2021, with a total 730 recorded.
Family violence incidents also declined by 9.0 per cent, to a total of 192 in the 12-month period.
Castlemaine, Campbells Creek, Maldon and Harcourt saw incidents drop, while numbers rose in Elphinstone.
Stealing from a motor vehicle, breach of family violence order, other theft, criminal damage and public health and safety offences were the principal offences committed in the Mount Alexander Shire.
The municipality's criminal incident rate was equivalent to 3623.6 per 100,000.
Campaspe
There was a 12.1 per cent drop in criminal incidents across Campaspe during 2021, with a total 2459 recorded.
Stealing from a motor vehicle, breach of family violence order, other theft, criminal damage and public health and safety offences were the principal offences committed in Campaspe.
There were 170 criminal incidents with a principal offence subgroup of public health and safety offences, compared with one in 2020.
Family violence incidents also declined by 3.1 per cent, to a total of 731 in the 12-month period.
The municipality's criminal incident rate was equivalent to 6539.2 per 100,000.

Macedon Ranges
Criminal damage, breach of family violence orders, other theft, public health and safety offences, stealing from a motor vehicle were the principal offences reported in the Macedon Ranges.
There was a 7.9 per cent increase in criminal incidents across the Macedon Ranges during 2021, with a total 1860 recorded.
Gisborne, Woodend and Riddells Creek saw incidents rise, while numbers dropped in Romsey and Kyneton.
Family violence incidents rose by 3.2 per cent, to a total of 479 in the 12-month period.
The municipality's criminal incident rate was equivalent to 3604.1 per 100,000.
Loddon
Family violence incidents rose by 35.7 per cent in the Loddon Shire during 2021, outpacing the rise in other criminal incidents.
In 2020, the total family incidents recorded were 98 compared with 133 in 2021.
There was a 12.8 per cent increase in criminal incidents across the Loddon Shire during 2021, with a total 413 recorded.
The municipality's criminal incident rate was equivalent to 5525.9 per 100,000.
Wedderburn, Inglewood, Bridgewater On Loddon and Bridgewater all saw incidents rise, while numbers dropped in Pyramid Hill.
Criminal damage, breach of family violence orders, other theft, public health and safety offences, residential non-aggravated burglary were the principal offences reported in the shire.
Gannawarra
Breach of public health and safety was the most common incident reported in Gannawarra during 2021, with a total of 76 instances recorded.
Other top principal offences included other theft, breach family violence orders, criminal damage and breach bail conditions.
There was a 5.6 per cent increase in criminal incidents in Gannawarra during 2021, with a total 642 recorded.
Kerang, Cohuna, Mystic Park and Murrabit all saw incidents rise, while numbers dropped in Koondrook.
The municipality's criminal incident rate was equivalent to 6217.5 per 100,000.
Family violence incidents declined by 8.2 per cent, to a total of 202 in the 12-month period.
Buloke
Family violence incidents rose by 34.6 per cent, to a total of 70 in the 12-month period.
While there was a 4.3 per cent drop in criminal incidents recorded with a total of 243 in 2021.
Donald, Birchip and Sea Lake all saw incidents rise, while numbers dropped in Charlton and Wycheproof.
Criminal damage, breach of family violence orders, other theft, public health and safety offences, drug possession were the principal offences reported in Buloke.
The municipality's criminal incident rate was equivalent to 4030.5 per 100,000.
Central Goldfields
The total criminal incidents dropped by 5.0 per cent, from 866 in 2020 to 823 in 2021.
Criminal damage was the top principal offence while others included breach of family violence orders, other theft, common assault and sexual offences.
The municipality's criminal incident rate was equivalent to 6304.6 per 100,000.
Carisbrook, Dunolly and Bowenvale all saw incidents rise, while numbers dropped in Maryborough.
Family violence incidents dropped by 16.2 per cent, to a total of 330 in the 12-month period.

The total number of criminal incidents dropped in five central Victorian municipalities, including in Greater Bendigo.
However the number of criminal incidents increased across Macedon Ranges and Gannawarra, with the largest increase seen in Loddon.

The agency found family violence order breaches increased across Greater Bendigo, Mount Alexander, the Macedon Ranges and Loddon municipalities.
These breaches were also in the top five principal offences for Campaspe, Central Goldfields, Gannawarra and Buloke shires.
The number of family violence incidents also rose in Greater Bendigo, Macedon Ranges, Loddon and Buloke municipalities.
The largest increase in incidents was the Loddon Shire with 35.7 percent.
Reported family violence incidents dropped in Mount Alexander, Central Goldfields, Campaspe and Gannawarra.
Greater Bendigo's overall criminal incident rate for the year to March was higher than the state's average. The rate in Greater Bendigo was 6595.4 per 100,000 people, compared with the Victorian rate of 5795.5.
However, crime was still down across the municipality.
Property and deception offences were the most common crimes across seven central Victorian municipalities including Greater Bendigo.
The total number of those offences dropped in Bendigo from 5934 in 2020 to 5127 in 2021.
