AFL Central Victoria football-netball leagues were awaiting further direction from AFL Victoria on Wednesday as they prepared for a re-start of senior competition.
Senior community sport has been given a green light to resume this weekend as part of a further easing of restrictions by the state government from 11.59pm Thursday night.
While the go-ahead has been given for seasons to resume, there are crowd limits in place as part of the state government's updated table of restrictions, with one person per four square metre density and a crowd cap of 150 people per venue, including no more than 50 indoors.
Outdoor groups can exceed no more than 20 people.
Indoor sport can also return after a two-week hiatus with maximum group sizes of 10.
The Bendigo Football-Netball League will meet with its clubs again tonight, with league manager Camron Tomlins saying earlier in the day further clarity was being sought from AFL Victoria following the state government announcement.
"We expect most of the information we're seeking such as do players and officials sit inside the crowd restrictions will be available when AFL Victoria releases its updated return to play protocols," Tomlins said.
"Even though it looks a lot more positive that we can re-boot this weekend, there's still a couple of pieces of information we're chasing."
The Loddon Valley league is also meeting with its clubs tonight, while the Heathcote District league stated earlier in the day before the state government announcement it had hoped to resume this weekend "albeit maybe without crowds and Melbourne-based footballers and netballers."
While there has been an easing of restrictions announced, there will still be no travel for Melbourne residents into regional Victoria this weekend, meaning clubs will have to rule out their Melbourne-based players from returning to action until there is a change.
