Locations which may be affected include Melbourne, Bendigo, Seymour, Maryborough, Ballarat, Geelong and Traralgon.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the North East and Wimmera districts and the warning for these districts is cancelled.

A severe weather warning from the Bureau of Meteorology remains in place for the Central, North Central and North East forecast districts.
Damaging south to southeasterly winds are expected to average between 50 and 60 km/h with peak gusts of 100 km/h in central and eastern parts of the warning area on Wednesday evening.
The strongest winds are expected overnight tonight.

Winds average up to 70 km/are expected Thursday morning in the Gippsland Ranges and the Central Ranges, with peak gusts reaching around 110 km/h.
Peak gusts about the central highlands and western Alpine peaks are expected to reach 120 km/h during the same period.
A separate severe weather warning for heavy rainfall is in place for the West and South Gippsland areas and parts of Central, North Central and North East forecast districts including Kyneton, Macedon and Daylesford.
The State Emergency Service advises that people to avoid driving in dangerous conditions, stay clear of trees, drains, low-lying areas and floodwater, and ensure loose items, such as outdoor settings and trampolines are secure.
The next weather warning will be issued by 11pm on Wednesday.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for strong, damaging winds for central Victoria and other parts of the state on Wednesday.
The weather warning includes Bendigo, Maryborough and Castlemaine as locations set to be affected by a low pressure system.
Damaging southerly winds could average speeds between 50 and 60 kilometres an hour in western parts of the warning area on early Wednesday, with peak gusts of 90km/h to 100km/h.

Winds are then likely to extend over central and eastern parts of the warning area in the afternoon and evening.
Along with Bendigo and Maryborough, other potentially affected locations include Warrnambool, Seymour, Ballarat, Melbourne and Traralgon.
The State Emergency Service advises people should stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards such as floodwater; checking that loose items, such as outdoor settings, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secure; and staying away from fallen powerlines.
The service also advises people stay informed and monitor weather warnings, forecasts and river levels via the Bureau of Meteorology website, and warnings through VicEmergency.
The bureau plans to issue a warning update by 5pm.
