Arena was set to host a 55^th birthday celebration at its home in The Engine Room on Tuesday before COVID restrictions forced the event's cancellation.

Executive director Sharon Custers said the team would continue to push forward with fundraising efforts.

"It hasn't stopped the team from pushing forward with their goal to raise $50,000 for their annual program of events for young people in the region," she said.

"With the support of Creative Partnerships Australia, all donations received before 30th June will be matched dollar for dollar up to $50,000. The birthday party will be moved to a later date in the year, so we will all still be able to celebrate Arena's success together."

Currently, the fundraising total stands at about $30,000.

"It is thanks to the generosity of our supporters that Arena is able to continue to have an impact in the lives of young people in Bendigo and beyond throughout this difficult time," Ms Custers said.

"Our goal is to ensure that every young person is empowered through creativity, and this support will go a long way towards that."

Arena began its life in Toorak in 1966 before relocating to Bendigo in 2018. In that time, the company has performed for more than one million young people across almost every continent.

"The impact of this small not-for-profit company cannot be overstated," Ms Custers said.
