The owner of Kennington's Bignold Park facility announced last month it was shutting the doors.
"The Bignold Park SRS is due to cease operating on Tuesday after the proprietor agreed that they would voluntarily close the business after consultation with the Human Services Regulator," a Department of Families, Fairness and Housing spokesperson said.
"The Department continues to work with local community health providers to support Bignold Park SRS residents, with all residents having new accommodation plans in place."
Latest COVID news:
The facility's owner said at the time of the announcement she was closing the facility voluntarily after being told the government may shut it down forcibly.
The department said that at a meeting with the regulator the proprietor of Bignold Park agreed to voluntarily close, and work with the department and local community health providers to support residents to find alternative accommodation.
However, staff at the facility were upset when concerns about financial viability and risks to residents' safety and wellbeing were cited as factors in the decision to close.
Staff said they regularly went "above and beyond" to care for the centre's residents.
More news:
