A MELBOURNE aged care worker is among the five new coronavirus cases recorded on Sunday.
Victoria's COVID response commander Jeroen Weimar said the woman last week worked at a facility in Maidstone - in Melbourne's north west - when she had no symptoms.
Mr Weimar said it was unclear how the worker caught the virus.
The Acare facility in Maidstone was in lockdown as a result of the positive test, Mr Weimar said.
He urged anyone who was at the facility on May 26 and May 27 to isolate and get tested immediately.
Of the five new cases recorded on Sunday, two were identified close contacts who had been isolating at home.
One of the five cases was linked to an exposure site, while it was unclear how the aged care worker and another case caught the virus.
Mr Weimar confirmed there were more than 4000 primary close contacts identified, with 70 per cent of those people returning a negative COVID-19 test.
