POLICE have arrested a man following an aggravated carjacking and pursuit in Echuca on Saturday morning.

It was alleged the man confronted a 32-year-old delivery driver with a sharp-edged weapon on Anstruther Street before stealing his white Ford Transit van about 5.10am.
Police quickly responded and pursued the van along the Murray Valley Highway, north of Echuca, before pulling out of the chase minutes later.

The man fled from the van and officers chased him across several paddocks before he was pepper sprayed and arrested.
A 31-year-old Kyabram man is currently in hospital under police guard for a pre-existing medical condition. He will be interviewed at a later date.
